FOUNDER + NEUROCOACH

Colleen is the founder of NeuroKind and a neurocoach for unconventional humans. She established NeuroKind (formerly Rowan Coaching) in 2015 with a two-part mission: (1) to bring ethical, executive-level, neuroscience-informed coaching to historically disenfranchised individuals, and (2) to facilitate human connection through applied neuroscience education that helps us understand how we all work. Through her work, she aims to help shape an equitable world where the truth of our diversity is reflected in our power structures, where rights are inalienable, differences are valued and accommodated, and creativity, innovation and connection can flourish. She believes in a future where all humans are thriving, not just striving and surviving.
NeuroKind offers a variety of services, including Private (1:1) NeuroCoaching, Corporate NeuroTraining, and virtual, self-led growth labs through NeuroKind Academy. Members of Unbecoming You receive access to a wide variety of free or accessibly-priced tools, webinars, and other brain-based resources to help you grow into your favorite self.
Prior to coaching, Colleen was a brand executive at a luxury branding agency in NYC. She’s worked with top corporations, entrepreneurs, executives, artists and entertainers in addition to providing extensive branding, communication, and fundraising expertise to the NYC criminal/social justice community. She began her coaching journey with an executive coaching capsule at NYU and completed her training at the Neuroleadership Institute.
Colleen currently lives in Coconut Creek (just north of Fort Lauderdale), Florida with her partner, young son, and two wily bulldogs. Her current hobbies include: improvised cross-stitching, learning ProCreate, fantasy and sci-fi everything (novels, in particular), digging into what makes people people (and brains brain), setting up her new home studio, and learning how to make Cuban coffee.

NeuroKind was founded on Colleen's deeply-held belief that the world she wants to live in - the one where everyone's rights are inalienable, diversities are valued and accommodated, and we spend more time on creativity, innovation and connection than we do striving through fear - will only come into being when the truth of our diversity is reflected in our power structures. Rules Aren't Real!
We believe in exposing cognitive biases, challenging assumptions, having fun, and getting sh** done - in
whatever way works best for you and does the least harm. There are a LOT of creative solutions at the end of
that particular rainbow!
The Solution is in You
The person closest to the problem is the person closest to the solution (thanks, Glenn!), and the best-for-you ideas and solutions will always come from within YOU. Our work is to improve your access to your own mind and the rich tapestry of skill, knowledge, and experience therein.
Leave Hate to the Haters
We have zero tolerance for hate. We believe love is love, Black lives matter, trans lives matter, no human is illegal, all bodies are good bodies, and in respecting and acknowledging others as *they* wish to be known.
No Such Thing as “Normal”
Diversity (including neuro-diversity) is both necessary and welcome, not a threat to be accommodated. Neurodivergent, poly, queer, gifted, disabled - whatever you are, you are welcome, and can expect respect, dignity, patience, support, clear communication - and HOPE.
Radical Self-Respect
Your shame doesn’t belong to you. It’s a social construct and a tool leveraged to maintain existing power structures and drive commerce in a capitalist economy. You deserve the opportunity to unlearn your shame, nurture your authentic self, and earn sustainable self-respect.
Negative toPossible
This is a gaslighting-free zone. That means that coaching comes with contextual education, so that we can learn what belongs to us and what doesn’t. It means we’re against toxic positivity and for growth Mindset. It means helping you cultivate possibility, not perfection.

As a NeuroCoach and educator, I am most drawn to the round pegs - the outliers, seekers, off-road adventurers and swashbuckling creators brave and curious enough to find (or make!) their own paths in a world full of square holes.
I prioritize collaborations with individuals from historically oppressed or under-represented groups, leveraging my privilege to provide access to the executive-level support we all need and deserve, and to empower us to co-create the more fair, beautiful, generative, kind world I believe is possible.
I work with humans who choose growth, disdain ignorance, risk vulnerability, hold space for the complications of personhood, prioritize human dignity, and are deeply informed by their passion for fairness and justice.
My clients have included serial entrepreneurs, executives, neurodivergent leaders, tech innovators, high-performers, scientists and scholars, artists who dare, undiluted activists, and womxn who want to take over the world. They also include PTA moms, aspiring change-makers, and folks seeking support in identifying meaningful criteria for their next steps.
I work with people who aren't where they want to be yet, but won't settle for less than a life that FEELS good - a story written in their pen, rich with opportunity, connection, clarity, compassionate self-respect, and self-defined success.

The Person is The Professional:

If you want to grow as a professional, you have to grow your SELF - no way around it. That means leveling up your self-knowledge, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence - getting honest with yourself and with me. However, one-way vulnerability doesn’t facilitate psychological safety. In fact, I firmly believe that mutual trust and transparency are necessary for an effective coaching relationship.
With that in mind, here’s an opportunity to get to know who I am not just as a founder and coach, but as a person. Want to know anything else? Just ask!

Above: My rad, weird, wonderful kiddo, who is my face and brain twin. Parenting has been the biggest invitation to full-frontal growth I’ve ever experienced. Is it hard AF? YES. Is he also the best thing ever? YES.

  • I am ADHD and Autistic, and while my brain comes with some challenges, I’ve learned to not just work with but rely on my neurodivergent brain. It’s pretty spectacularly creative, whether we’re making art, solving problems, or inventing what’s next. In fact, it’s a huge part of what makes me such a great coach.
  • I have a minor obsession with cheese, and a MAJOR obsession with what makes people tick.
  • Things I love include: CHRISTMAS, nerdy shit, long baths in big tubs, cheese, craft cocktails, direct communication, action/adventure movies from the 90s-00s, 90s hip hip and R&B, pasta, burlesque, Harry Potter (although f*** that TERF), female friendships, celebrating and elevating women, fucking up the patriarchy, painting, being on a boat, road trips, honesty, loyalty, big hugs, Jurassic Park, French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs, and drinking a fresh piña colada in a pool.
  • I absolutely LOVE to read, and you’ll often find me stuck in a new fantasy, sci-fi, or mystery novel. In fact, The very first book I read in the fantasy genre was called “The Rowan”, by Anne McCaffrey. It's a story about a young woman who literally changes her life and her environment using the power of her mind. Funny how these things come full-circle, isn’t it?
  • I received my coaching training at NYU and through the NeuroLeadership Institute, through which I earned a certificate in Brain-Based Coaching.
  • I lived in New York City for over a decade, and loved every minute! That city is the world entire - a cacophony of beautiful diversity, energy, creativity, innovation and ideation. If you're passionate about something in New York, someone is excited to help you to accomplish it.

  • I adore speakeasies, burlesque, pin-ups, circus and aerial performances. On a Saturday night, you’re likely to find my man and I drinking something with a fabulous name in a hole-in-the-wall joint while a scantily clad human twirls nearby. Hit me up for a list of my favorite spots in New York, Seattle, Buenos Aires, and around the world.

  • I'm originally from the West Coast, and grew up primarily in Northern California and Oregon.

  • I’m a classically trained opera singer with a Bachelors of Music from Indiana University, Bloomington, the Jacobs School of Music. Learn more about my education and professional background on LinkedIn.

  • I love to paint, draw, doodle, craft, embroider - name it, and my #ADHDbrain wants to try it! Painting is my form of meditation, and I love to put on a good movie and disappear into a new piece for hours.

  • I love road trips, new experiences, and learning about foreign cultures. In fact, I spent October-December 2017 traveling around South America with Remote Year, an amazing program that connects remote professionals to the world.

  • So far, I've been to 20+ countries, and I can't wait to continue exploring!
